$92 Bathroom Update

The best part is that any money we spent in this room can be translated into future upgrades. Which means that we didn’t waste a single cent of that $92, even if it was partially an investment in my sanity.

Big Breakfast made Easy with Scotch-Brite Scrubbing Dish Cloths

But to make up for it, we tend to go a little bigger for our Saturday breakfasts. And it's so fun. We take the morning slow, we all chip in to make breakfast, music playing in the kitchen, Saturday morning cartoons in the living room for the boys, all in our pajamas, just enjoying some family time and relax a little after yet another busy week. It's lovely to spend the time together... except... I still don't want the mess. I want the big meal. Not the big mess.

Cleaning Up the Hoarder Den with Rubbermaid Fastrack

We've tried to do a little bit of clean up here and there, but y'all, it's gotten to the point where I refer to the garage as my Hoarder Den and I keep the door closed if people come over... But I want our garage to be usable space! I have projects, we have things to store that we need to be accessible, and our garage is the door to the backyard - I want to grill this summer and not have to do parkour to get out there.

How I Keep My House Clean (enough)

You know, the part where we actually live there, and how our house looks like people actually live there. Weird, right? Kids are messy and husbands are messy and WE are messy. We eat three meals a day there, I work from home, my kids play with toys (and anything in a cupboard or basket that looks interesting). But I've gotten pretty good about not letting it get out of control and this is how:

The Everything Closet

This closet became the drop zone for all the random stuff in the house that I didn't know where else to put. My medical supplies (which I have a lot of, thanks to Type 1 Diabetes), medicines, first aid, all the toilet paper it looks like I hoard because I have an addiction to finding good bulk deals on Amazon, dog accessories, all the candles and wax melts I hoard because I have an addiction to nice smelling things. So basically, this closet has become my life-sized junk drawer and as I neglected it, it became my Monica Closet. (If you don't get that reference, go watch all 10 Seasons of Friends on Netflix right now. I'll wait....)

Little Touches to Step Up Your Guest Room Game

Having guests meant I needed to get our guest room ready to go! Sure, technically all you need is a bed in a room to call it a guest room but I like to think that it's the little things that take it from spare room to guest ready. So I guess today is kind of a 2-for-1 because it's my favorite 10 tips for stepping up your guest room game, and I've included pictures of our newly completed guest room as a kind of Room Tour.

Bar Cart 101

And now that I have the bar cart in my dining room, it's high time I actually started using it. So today we're talking about five different ways you can use your bar cart. It's not only good for holding booze, though some of these do involve alcohol. Everything from play dates to brunch, the bar cart may actually prove to be your most functional purchase since your last bottle of wine.

High End Storage You Can Take With You!

By now I think you're getting the impression that our bedroom is the size of Harry Potter's closet under the stairs. And let me clarify - it is small, but it's still usable. However, we have had to get creative with some things. Mostly because our attached master bathroom is also really small and offers very little storage. Luckily, we have an entire wall of closets in this room that offer plenty of space. The problem - we have a lot to fit in here. Not just our clothes and shoes, but this is prime real estate for extra towels, sheets, beauty supplies I only use on occasion. We also don't have room for a dresser in here, so anything that we fold goes in this closet. And it was proving that one hanging rod and shelf all the way across the closet just wasn't cutting it...
