First Birthday Party
The boys' first birthday was Saturday and we had a huge shindig to celebrate our sweet babes' first year. We ended up with 40 people there, which was a little overwhelming. But it was all worth it and turned out to be an awesome party. I designed our invitations and ordered them on Zazzle. They turned out great, even though it took me approximately 100 pictures to get a few decent ones for the invitations. Zazzle allows you to put images on the back at no extra cost, so I added a couple on the back just for fun.
I had all of the food set up inside in the kitchen. We had the front living room set up with a table for gifts and the downstairs living room available for people to sit and for babies to play. We had the patio available for seating, too, but we got rained out about halfway through the party.
For lunch, we made hamburgers and hot dogs with corn and chips on the side. We had a veggie platter, a fruit platter, and a tray of food for the littles with pouches, animal crackers, and cereal bars. I set up a drink station with lemonade, sweet tea, iced tea, bottled water, and juice pouches for kids.
For dessert, I made individual banana pudding cups in 8 ounce mason jars. They turned out so cute and ended up being a hit with everyone.
For the boys' smash cakes, I made banana bread in lieu of cake. I topped with blueberry greek yogurt and blueberry 1s.
We chose not to open gifts during the party, but the boys had a blast opening them up later in the evening and the next morning, they had a hay day when they came downstairs to find all new toys waiting to be played with. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and family and all of the wonderful toys, clothes, books, and gift cards that the boys were gifted. They love everything and every single person really outdid themselves.
I am just so thankful to all of our friends and family that came to celebrate Jude and Wyatt. They are some very fortunate boys to be loved so much by so many people. There is no way that I could have pulled this party off without the crazy amount of help I got from our family who did grocery runs for me, helped me hang balloons, calmed me down when I was in a tizzy, and dealt with my crazy stress induced outbursts. I had some incredibly talented people lend hands at party decorations like my friend who made the ONE banners for their high chairs and my Mother in Law who made the UNO onesies. This party was a huge team effort and to everyone who made it a success, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Happy Memorial Day, everybody! I hope you've had a wonderful long weekend this weekend and I hope your short week goes quickly.
