I’ve been making an effort to tackle the little spaces, lately, and I thought I’d share with you some of the things I’ve been doing to make my life a little easier without much effort, time, or money. Most of these solutions are under $10, and all took me about 3 minutes to do! Baking Drawer. This little drawer next to our refrigerator is close to the mixing bowls, cooking cabinet, stand mixer, and oven. It seemed a perfect place to stash all of my little odds and ends I use for baking. The problem is, odds and ends usually end up in odd places. Case in point:
All I did was purge the few items in here that I have been continually shoving out of the way rather than using, and corral some of the smaller things into zip top bags and these little trays from Target. It’s much easier to find things in the drawer now.
Cooking Station. I found myself leaving out bottles of Olive Oil and Canola Oil to avoid fishing them out of the pantry every and I also kept the salt bowl and pepper grinder I also keep out all the time. It was looking a little messy but then I thought, everything looks better on a tray. I found a really cute marble tray at Home Goods for $15, grabbed a couple of bottles for oil while I was there, and a utensil holder to keep my most frequently used cooking spoons in.
Now, it’s much easier to just grab things as I’m cooking and it makes having these things out on the counter look intentional, not just like I didn’t feel like cleaning up after breakfast.
Junk Drawer. We have that little desk area by the kitchen table and while I think this desk thing is stupid and dysfunctional, I do like the out-of-the-way storage it provides. So, I grabbed a couple of little trays that I snagged at the dollar store a while back, and created little catch-all drawer to keep handy things, well, handy. All this drawer holds is chalkboard stuff, writing utensils, an extra phone and laptop cord, and a bottle of ibuprofen.
Bathroom Drawer. The bathroom holds so many tiny things. Tiny things can create big messes, and big organizing debacles. This little tray organizer came with the box that I keep my makeup in. It works really well in the top drawer of our bathroom vanity to keep the things I use every day organized.
Box to End all Boxes. So, I found this divider box on Amazon. It’s incredibly handy and versatile. I have a few and use it for different things around the house.
It would be very helpful for other things, too, like sewing supplies, art supplies like Pearler beads and those rubber band bracelet loom thing-a-ma-jigs, makeup, small toys, nails & screws by size and type, really tools of any kind, hair accessories, first aid kits, jewelry, picnic supplies, emergency kit for a car, small cleaning supplies, game pieces (Monopoly anyone?!), beauty supplies – especially nail polish and nail tools. The list goes on and on and on.
Please excuse me while I go contact the manufacturer to place a bulk order. J
Happy Hump Day!
