Play Dates to Date Night + A Giveaway!
This post is brought to you by PinkBlush Boutique. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When the wonderful ladies at PinkBlush reached out and wanted me to talk style a little bit, I was admittedly a little nervous. I would not say by any stretch that I'm a fashion blogger. But I was also excited. I think it's really important that we, especially us moms, take a little time to feel good about ourselves every day and this presented a great opportunity for me to talk about that a little.
In case you didn't know, PinkBlush is an online women's boutique with stylish, practical, affordable, and trendy styles for every women. They have styles for almost any shape and size, and even have maternity wear and plus sized maternity wear! Yeah! I wish I would have known about them when I was pregnant and living in ribbed tank tops!
I always see these really cute day to night outfit posts where chic office apparel turns into even chicer (that's a word now) happy hour apparel. And while that's great, and I love to look and wish I had a reason to wear heels twice in a day, it's just not my life. And I know for many of you, it's not practical either. As a stay at home mom, I'm dressing for function. My outfits need to be able to handle mess, running halfway across the park chasing a kid, comfortable enough to get up and down 500 times that day without readjusting every time. You get it. But I still want to look nice and put together.
I am in a better mood if I put a bit of effort into my look. But I don't have much time to make perfect and unique outfits every day. So to save time, I use a pretty fool proof formula:
Leggings/skinny jeans + tunic + cute/comfy shoes + 5 minute hair + 5 minute makeup
= elevated mom outfit
And this works really well for me. I feel put together but not over dressed. I can get ready in about 20 minutes this way, and I'm able to tackle whatever the day (or Jude and Wyatt) might bring. And luckily, this formula also transitions to the rare date night or girls night out really well too. I've put together a couple looks here for you, some for our day to day play dates and errands, and a couple more dressy looks. I've even modeled a couple! I just wanted to show you can still have your leggings + tunic but it's totally possible (and even really easy!) elevate your look to be more put together, more stylish, and still ready for mom duty.
I chose a cute, but incredibly versatile white tunic from PinkBlush that is actually now unavailable. I guess other people thought it was pretty awesome too! But luckily, they have a very similar one, here, which is also seriously cute and just as versatile, and even cut similarly!
For a day of errands out with the fam, I chose to pair it with simple black leggings (like these!), some really cute (and really comfortable) ballet flats, and my go-to carry all bag which acts as both my purse and diaper bag. With some quick hair and makeup, this is my every day mom on the go look.
White Tunic No Longer Available, Similar Here
This tunic is long enough that it covers anything I need covered, it's flowy enough that I don't feel self conscious, but it's still stylish and definitely not frumpy. With well made, well fitting basics, you can play with accessories and make each outfit different without over complicating your wardrobe or your precious getting ready time.
Then when it's time for date night or drinks with the girls, getting dolled up is just as easy. I spent literally 5 minutes getting ready for going out. All I did was throw a couple more curls in my hair, put on some red lipstick, and add some accessories I already owned. Then ta-da! The same #MomLife ready tunic is now ready for going out.
It really is simple and stocking your wardrobe with versatile basics is a great way to make sure that you can wake up every day, throw on something cute (and appropriate!), and tackle your day head on. And being able to wear leggings while still feeling fashionable is probably one of my biggest accomplishments to date.
I love love love this tunic from PinkBlush and I'm so excited to wear it and pair it with more fun accessories. Current outfit ideas brewing in my head:
- Skinny jeans and booties. Classic combo, but so perfect.
- Patterned leggings, these really cute black flats, and a statement necklace.
- Belted over a pencil skirt and some black pumps! I think this is my fave.
